A recent incident shows how a small mistake can lead to a big disaster. In Anantapur district’s Kalyandurgam town, a fire broke out after a man carelessly threw a lit matchstick onto the road where petrol had spilled. The video of the incident is going viral.

How the Fire Started

In the video, a few people are seen standing outside a shop. One person is smoking a bidi (a type of Indian cigarette) and carelessly throws a lit matchstick onto the ground. The road is wet because petrol has spilled there. The person does not notice the petrol and the matchstick ignites it, causing a huge fire. The flames quickly spread, damaging a nearby motorcycle and even reaching the shop.

What Happened

A person had bought five liters of petrol from a station near the old bus stand. While riding his motorcycle, the petrol container broke, spilling fuel on the road. Unaware of the danger, another person lit a bidi and threw the matchstick into the pool of petrol. The fire started immediately and spread to nearby shops and vehicles. Local residents quickly used water to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage.
