The UP Police Constable written exam has started today. After the exam was canceled in February due to a paper leak, it is being held again now. More than 48 lakh candidates have applied for about 60,000 positions. Here is the complete process for becoming a constable in UP Police.
1. Apply if Eligible
The first step is to apply when the recruitment notice is out. To be eligible, you must have passed the 12th grade. The age limit is 18-25 years for men and 18-28 years for women. Applications can be made on the official website of UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) – uppbpb.gov.in.
2. Written Exam
The first stage is the written exam, which is a multiple-choice test. It includes questions on General Knowledge, Hindi, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning. After applying, candidates receive an admit card and take this exam.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who pass the written exam must take the Physical Efficiency Test. The requirements are:
- Men: Run 4.8 km in 27 minutes, high jump 4.5 feet, long jump 14 feet.
- Women: Run 2.4 km in 16 minutes, high jump 3 feet, long jump 10 feet.
4. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
The third stage is the Physical Measurement Test. Candidates must meet the following standards:
- Men: Height of 168 cm and chest of 79 cm (with a 5 cm expansion).
- Women: Height of at least 152 cm.
5. Document Verification and Medical Examination
In the fourth and fifth stages, candidates undergo Document Verification and Medical Examination. After passing PMT, candidates’ documents are checked for age, education, and caste certificates. Then, a medical exam is conducted to ensure the candidates are fit.
6. Final Selection and Training
After passing all stages, candidates are selected and sent for training at designated centers. After completing the training, they receive their appointment.
