🌐 How Does an Earthquake Happen?
The Earth has four layers:
- Inner Core
- Outer Core
- Mantle
- Crust
- The crust and upper mantle together are called the lithosphere.
- The lithosphere is made up of many parts called tectonic plates.
- These plates move slowly, and when they collide or slide, the energy causes shaking of the earth, which we feel as an earthquake.
In simple words, earthquakes happen when the earth’s plates crack or move suddenly, releasing energy.
So far, earthquakes in Myanmar, Pakistan, and Nepal have not caused any damage, but they are reminders that the earth’s surface is always moving.
