The earth shook once again due to an earthquake. On Thursday, tremors were felt in Myanmar, and people got scared. However, no damage has been reported so far. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude hit Myanmar.

Earlier, earthquakes were also felt in Pakistan and Nepal. Several countries including Afghanistan have also recently experienced tremors.

🌍 What Happened in Myanmar?

  • The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.1.
  • It occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers under the ground.
  • Even after the quake, aftershocks are possible.
  • People were scared, but no loss of life or property has been reported.

🌍 Earthquakes in Nepal and Pakistan Too

  • Nepal: On Monday, Nepal also felt strong tremors.
    • Magnitude: 3.9
    • People ran out of their homes in fear.
    • No damage was reported.
  • Pakistan: On Sunday, an earthquake hit Pakistan.
    • Magnitude: 5.3
    • Time: Around 3:54 AM
    • Depth: 150 kilometers
    • People came out of their houses and ran to open areas.
    • No damage was reported here either.

🌐 How Does an Earthquake Happen?

The Earth has four layers:

  1. Inner Core
  2. Outer Core
  3. Mantle
  4. Crust
  • The crust and upper mantle together are called the lithosphere.
  • The lithosphere is made up of many parts called tectonic plates.
  • These plates move slowly, and when they collide or slide, the energy causes shaking of the earth, which we feel as an earthquake.

In simple words, earthquakes happen when the earth’s plates crack or move suddenly, releasing energy.

So far, earthquakes in Myanmar, Pakistan, and Nepal have not caused any damage, but they are reminders that the earth’s surface is always moving.
