A major anti-drug operation was carried out by the NDPS team in Shajapur village, Maharashtra, where a large amount of chemical powder used to make tablets was seized.
What Happened?
Two warehouses were sealed, and the police are now checking if the chemicals were used legally or for making illegal drugs. The police received information that two Eicher trucks were carrying scrap barrels between Shajapur village and Shajapur Chowphuli, and inside those barrels, chemical powder was being smuggled to make drugs.
What Was Seized?
The police laid a trap and raided the area at Shajapur Chowphuli. They found that the trucks were carrying scrap bags filled with white chemical powder. The police conducted a proper investigation and found:
- 1.111 kg of white powder in one truck
- 401 grams of white powder in another truck
The material belonged to a man named Baban Khan.
Narcotic Confirmed After Testing
The trucks were headed towards a warehouse in MIDC Waluj, Shajapur. The police raided this warehouse too and seized 961 grams of white powder. When the powder was tested using a government drug testing kit, it was confirmed to be a narcotic substance.
In total, the police seized:
- 2.463 kilograms of MD (Mephedrone)
- Total estimated value: ₹1,23,65,000 (1.23 crore rupees)
Samples of the seized material have been sent to the FSL (Forensic Science Lab) for further testing.
Recent Action by Anti-Narcotics Cell
In another major operation, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) Ghatkopar Unit recently arrested three people and seized 1.28 kg of MD (Mephedrone). The total value of the seized drugs in the international market was over ₹2.03 crore. These accused were said to be part of an experienced drug distribution network mainly active in the Andheri and Ghatkopar areas.
