The nation’s capital, Delhi, was shaken on Monday evening (November 10) when a powerful bomb blast suddenly occurred in a car parked near the Red Fort Metro Station. The tragic incident resulted in the death of 9 people and left 16 others injured. The NIA, Delhi Police Special Cell, and Forensic Teams immediately arrived on the scene to begin their investigation.
However, this accident did more than just take a few lives; it devastated many families. The homes of the deceased are now filled only with grief and the question, “What was our fault?”
‘My Brother Was Kept in the Mortuary as Unknown’
Dinesh Mishra, a resident of Shravasti, Uttar Pradesh, who had been working in Delhi for a long time, died in the blast. The story shared by his brother, Guddu Mishra, is deeply moving.
Guddu Mishra recounted, “My brother’s name is Dinesh Mishra. He lost his life in the blast. I had been trying to call him since 8 PM, but the call wasn’t connecting. At 11:15 PM, someone finally answered his phone. He was in the hospital. I was told to come to the Emergency Ward of Lok Nayak Hospital. Our house is 25 kilometers away from there. It took me until 12:00 AM to reach the hospital. I wasn’t allowed inside. After a lot of commotion, I was allowed into the complex, but they did not let me see my brother.”
Guddu continued, “My brother’s name was not on the list of the injured or the dead. Since he didn’t have his Aadhaar card with him at the time, they had put him on the list of ‘unknown’ people. I pleaded with them to show me, saying I would recognize my brother. They did not agree to this either.”
He explained, “I wandered around there until 2:00 AM. No one listened to me until then. Afterward, I met the SHO, who told me to check the mortuary. When I got there, I saw my brother’s body.”
Dinesh Mishra was 34 years old and ran a small wedding card shop in Chawri Bazaar. He leaves behind three small children who live in his village. For the last 15-16 years, Dinesh sent home whatever he earned from his shop in Delhi.
‘Came to Delhi for Work, Now His Body Has Arrived’
Meanwhile, Mohsin, a resident of Meerut, also lost his life in the tragedy. His family is now in deep shock. Mohsin’s mother cried, saying, “My son was 35 years old. He drove a battery-rickshaw. My younger daughter-in-law informed me that he was no more. He has two children, a son and a daughter. He had been working in Delhi for the past year. Earlier, he lived in Meerut. The whole family lives in Meerut. Since his wife is from Delhi, they were living here.”
She added that Mohsin had come to Delhi to earn a living so he could support his family.
Mohsin’s mother recounted, “My daughter-in-law said that employment was good in Delhi, so he moved. At night, my daughter-in-law called, saying our son hadn’t come home. She told me there had been a blast here and to come quickly.”
Additionally, Mukesh Agrawal, a resident of Amroha, UP, was also killed in the Delhi bomb blast. His younger brother said, “Yesterday morning, he came to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to see his co-in-law. After that, he got off near the Red Fort Metro Station, and then the blast happened there. When we called his phone, the police answered. They called us to the spot, and that’s when we learned about the incident.”
Investigation Continues, But the Pain Deepens
The NIA, Delhi Police, and Forensic Teams are investigating the blast from every angle. Initial investigations suggest the use of explosive material. However, it is not yet clear whether this was a terrorist attack or part of a larger conspiracy.
In the midst of all this, the lives of ordinary people like Dinesh Mishra and Mohsin have been changed forever. A brother is lost, a son is gone, and only tears and memories remain behind.
