On September 26, 2024, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed an election rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, where he targeted Congress and Rahul Gandhi. He said, “Rahul Baba claims that we will bring back Article 370. I want to say from this platform that your three generations do not have the strength to bring it back.”

Amit Shah continued, stating that under Modi’s government, there is neither stone-pelting nor terrorism. He mentioned that Rahul Gandhi had said they would grant statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Shah confirmed that Jammu and Kashmir would receive statehood, but it would be given by Narendra Modi. He criticized Omar Abdullah and Rahul Gandhi for saying they would bring democracy to Kashmir, claiming that these families have kept Jammu and Kashmir divided for 70 years. He stated that it was Modi who had enabled elections in the region.

“Terrorism Will Be Met with Death Penalty”

Amit Shah shared an anecdote about his helicopter not landing as planned and instead arriving in Udhampur by road. He praised the road infrastructure, attributing it to Modi’s work. He also stated, “Should Afzal Guru have been hanged or not? Those who spread terrorism will be dealt with the death penalty.” He mentioned that the current government has made it safe for people, including government officials, to travel without fear.

“International Airport Will Be Built in Jammu”

Amit Shah promised that if the BJP comes to power, they would increase the annual installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from ₹6,000 to ₹10,000. He announced plans to construct an international airport in Jammu and bring a metro system to the region. He added that they would restore 100 temples destroyed by terrorists each year and ensure 100% job placement for Agniveers.
