With the Mix Fold 2, Xiaomi introduced the thinnest folding phone in the world last year. This year, Xiaomi is introducing the Mix Fold 3 as a worthy sequel with all-around improvements.
The profile of the Mix Fold 3 is even more svelte than that of its predecessor, measuring just 5.26mm when unfolded and 10.89mm when folded. A novel motherboard that is vertically stacked was created by Xiaomi engineers to assist reduce the size of the phone.
Additionally, Xiaomi created a brand-new unique hinge with 198 parts that uses 17% less internal space.
The redesigned hinge has 14 micro-hinges that tuck into the main folding display for increased durability, a 3-element stricture, and a carbon ceramic steel rotating mechanism. The new Mix Fold 3 hinge offers a 45°–135° hover opening, allowing you to stand up the phone like a miniature laptop.
The Mix Fold 3 has two E6 OLED screens. With a 1,960 x 2,160 resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate, the primary 8.03-inch LTPO screen offers both. The panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision and has Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) technology. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the outside 6.56-inch LTPO OLED display, which in auto mode can reach a peak brightness of 2,560 nits.
Next, let’s talk about the cameras. Xiaomi gave the Mix Fold 3 a quad camera system with Leica lenses. There is a 50MP Sony IMX800 main camera with OIS (23mm equivalent) and a 12MP ultrawide module with 15mm equivalent. A 10MP telephoto lens with a 3x zoom (75mm) and a 10MP periscope module with a 115mm focal length that provides up to 5x optical zoom each handle zoom pictures. Both of the telephoto modules have OIS.
A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage powers the Mix Fold 3. With the same 67W wired charging as Mix Fold 2, Mix Fold 3 adds 50W wireless charging in addition to a larger 4,800 mAh battery. The software is handled by MIUI 14, which is based on Android.
The pricing for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 are the same whether the back is made of glass or composite fibre.
Pre-orders are now available in China, and official sales are scheduled to start on August 16. Xiaomi made no reference to availability information for markets outside of China.
