Wrestler Sakshi Malik, who welcomed Vinesh, said, “What Vinesh has done for the country is something very few people can achieve. I just hope she receives the respect and honor she deserves.”

When asked about the government’s support, Sakshi Malik said, “The government has provided full assistance for her medal.”

Background of the Case

Vinesh qualified for the finals at the Paris Olympics, but on the final match day, her weight was 100 grams over the 50 kg limit, leading to her disqualification. She appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a silver medal, but the appeal was rejected. With a heavy heart, Vinesh returned to India.
