As assembly elections approach in Uttar Pradesh, key political players are gearing up. The Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram), and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) are all preparing for elections not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in other states. Despite their different strategies, their common goal is to strengthen their political power and position in Uttar Pradesh.
SP’s New Strategy
Samajwadi Party leaders recently visited Maharashtra. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is reportedly working to strengthen the party’s presence in Maharashtra. The SP has also hinted at fielding candidates in Haryana and Jharkhand. SP legislator Ravidas Mehrotra mentioned that Congress is not including them in seat-sharing talks for upcoming elections. Mehrotra also suggested that the SP might look to share seats in Uttar Pradesh’s assembly elections.
BSP’s Position
The Bahujan Samaj Party has formed an alliance with INLD in Haryana. BSP has previously allied with various parties in Haryana, but these alliances often fall apart if results are not favorable. In Jammu and Kashmir, the BSP plans to go solo. The BSP has not yet decided on alliances for Maharashtra and Jharkhand, and a decision may come from their national executive meeting in Lucknow.
Impact of Chandrashekhar Azad’s Decision
Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Nagina and head of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram), has announced an alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP for Haryana’s assembly elections. The specifics of the alliance and seat distribution are yet to be decided and will be announced in a press conference. Azad’s party will also contest 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh’s upcoming by-elections.
SBSP’s Future with BJP
The Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, led by Om Prakash Rajbhar, is looking for political opportunities in Uttar Pradesh and beyond. Rajbhar has been exploring alliances with other parties and had a recent meeting with Shiv Sena leader Pratap Baburao in Maharashtra. The SBSP is considering alliances beyond the BJP.
In summary, while BSP, ASP (Kanshiram), and SBSP are working to strengthen their position in various states, their ultimate aim is to enhance their political power and influence in Uttar Pradesh. It remains to be seen how these political moves will shape the political landscape in the upcoming elections.
