In Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces killed two terrorists during an encounter. Four soldiers and one police officer were injured in the operation. All injured personnel were taken to the hospital. Security forces are currently conducting a search operation in the area and have recovered a large amount of weapons and ammunition.
The security forces received intelligence that terrorists were hiding in the area, which led them to launch a search operation in the Adigam area of Kulgam. They were checking each house for the terrorists when the terrorists suddenly opened fire on them, leading to a gunfight. A police officer reported that the condition of the injured personnel is now stable.

Earlier, on September 15, 2024, there was gunfire between terrorists and security forces in Poonch district. On September 14, one terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Baramulla district. This encounter followed the deaths of two soldiers during their duty in Kishtwar.
This incident comes at a time when assembly elections are ongoing in Jammu and Kashmir. The first phase of the elections was held on September 18, while the second phase took place on September 25 in six districts, including Ganderbal, Budgam, Srinagar, and Jammu regions like Rajouri, Reasi, and Poonch. The third and final phase of voting is scheduled for October 1, with counting of votes on October 8.
