Tvs X electric scooter is the first e-scooter with ABS in India and has a top speed of 105 kmph.
After releasing several teasers, TVS has finally launched the X at Rs 2.50 lakh. At this price, the X is currently the most expensive electric scooter sold in India.
•First electric scooter to get single channel ABS.
•Maximum peak power 11 kW.
•The design resembles the Kreon concept.
The Tvs X electric scooter is powered by a 4.4kWh battery with an IDC range of 140 kilometres housed in a double frame suspended by a telescopic fork and monoshock. The battery can be charged either with the Smart X Home fast charger, which charges it from 0 to 50 percent in 50 minutes (3 kW fast charger included), or with the 950 W portable charger, which takes 4 hours 30 minutes to charge from zero to 80 percent. The portable charger is priced at Rs 16,275 (including GST).
The X’s PMSM motor has a peak power of 11 kW (continuous power 7 kW) and a torque of 40 Nm. Braking is done by 220 mm front and 195 mm rear discs. One new feature on the X is ABS (albeit a single-channel system), making it the first electric scooter to do so. The X rides on 12-inch wheels with a fat 100-section tire in the front and a 110-section rim in the rear.
The TVS X electric scooter is built on the TVS XLETON platform and gets a maxi-style shape, although the 770mm seat height is very approachable. A unique feature is that the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) engine is air-cooled and TVS claims that the X can accelerate from standstill to 40 kmph in just 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 105 kmph. There are three driving modes – Xtealth, Xtride, Xonic; Different levels of regenerative braking are also available.
The TVS X has a 10.25-inch TFT panel that can be adjusted to any angle to better suit the rider. This huge dashboard has many features like Bluetooth connectivity for music playback and navigation alerts. In fact, when you’re stationary, you can watch videos or play games on the dashboard using the PlayTech entertainment system. The X also gets reverse assist, cruise control and a hill hold function.
The design is quite radical and similar to the well-received Creon concept at the Auto Expo 2018. The most important thing here is that the X does not get a floor, but the back of the frame takes its place. The X also gets a split seating arrangement, which is rarely seen on a scooter. And speaking of storage, the seat capacity is 19 litres.
Priced at Rs 2.50 lakh, the TVS X is the most expensive e-scooter currently on sale and does not get the FAME-II subsidy. Bookings begin tonight and the TVS X will start shipping in November 2023, first in Bengaluru and then across India by March 2024. The first 2,000 owners will get a free smartwatch and a Curated Concierge package worth Rs 18,000.
