Sunil Gavaskar : The Super Four match between  Pakistan cricket team and India was one of the most anticipated matches of the Asia Cup 2023 tournament. However, the match turned out to be  one-sided  as Babar Azam’s team outplayed their  rivals.

The Pakistan team, especially the batting unit, received strong criticism from legendary cricketers and fans. Many said that the team did not show its intention to win in the decisive match.

Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar was also a vocal critic of the Pakistan side after the match. In an interview, he pointed out from the sidelines that he does not have a strong batting unit.

The former Indian cricketer feels that captain Babar Azam, who took 10 wickets in the match, is the only batsman who has carried the stand.

“There are no ifs and buts in cricket,” he said. But if the game (match 1) had gone on, it appeared like India may have defended 266 against Pakistan on the second day.

“You know, people keep bringing up India just having one or two players, especially in Pakistan. How many athletes does Pakistan have, specifically?

Especially in the batting department. Whom have they but Babar?”

He said that while analyzing Pakistan’s batting, the opposition mainly thinks about  Babar Azam’s dismissal.

Sunil Gavaskar said that no other batsman can terrorize the opposition bowling alley.

India, who have already qualified for the final after defeating hosts Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super Four stage, dominated Babar Azam’s side  from the start. After  the batting half ended, they reached a super total of 356-2 in their 50 overs.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored centuries while captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored fifties.

Pakistan’s batting – 357 runs – fell like a deck of cards as the side slumped to 128 for 34, losing the game by a paltry 228 runs.

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the outstanding performer with the ball as he returned 5-28 with  eight overs.
