A major accident occurred in Sikkim on Thursday. An army vehicle fell into a gorge in Pakyong district, resulting in the deaths of 4 soldiers. The accident happened when the army vehicle was traveling from Pedong in West Bengal to Zuluk in Pakyong district, following the Silk Route.
Reports say the vehicle skidded off the road and fell 700 to 800 feet into a gorge. The accident took place near Dalopchand Dara in the vertical area. This area is close to the Renock-Rongli Highway, known as the Silk Route.

The deceased include driver Pradeep Patel from Madhya Pradesh, craftsman W. Peter from Manipur, Naik Gursev Singh from Haryana, and Subedar K. Thangapandi from Tamil Nadu. All the soldiers, including the driver, were from the Enroute Mission Command Unit based in Binaguri, West Bengal.
The Indian Army has not yet issued an official statement regarding the accident.
