Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India won the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29. The team ended a 13-year ICC trophy drought by defeating South Africa in the final in Barbados. Now, about two months later, Rohit Sharma has given credit for the World Cup victory to three key figures. Notably, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, or Jasprit Bumrah were not among them.
Although it has been some time since India won the T20 World Cup, the celebrations are not completely over. Recently, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Captain Rohit Sharma took the World Cup trophy to Siddhivinayak Temple.
Rohit Sharma also spoke about the T20 World Cup during the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards. In his comments, he credited Head Coach Rahul Dravid, Selection Committee Chairman Ajit Agarkar, and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah for their support and efforts in helping the players perform their best.
Award for Men’s International Cricketer of the Year
At the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards, Rohit Sharma was honored with the Men’s International Cricketer of the Year award. This was given for his outstanding batting and excellent captaincy.
Retirement from T20 Internationals
After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20 Internationals. He became only the second captain to win the T20 World Cup for India, after MS Dhoni, who led India to victory in the first T20 World Cup in 2007.
