Robert Vadra, husband of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, criticized BJP MP and actress Kangana Ranaut for her comments on the farmers’ protests. On Friday, August 30, 2024, Vadra expressed that he believes Kangana is not fit to be a Member of Parliament.
Speaking to reporters, Vadra said, “She is a woman, and I respect her, but I don’t think she deserves to be in Parliament. She is not educated… I think she doesn’t care about people; she only thinks about herself. She should think about women’s issues. My appeal is for the whole country to come together on the issue of women’s safety and move forward.” Vadra emphasized that women’s safety is the most important issue, and all political parties should unite to address it.

Kangana Ranaut, the MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, posted a clip of her interview with a Hindi daily on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) on Monday. In the interview, she claimed that during the farmers’ protests against the now-repealed farm laws, India could have faced a situation similar to Bangladesh’s, but this was avoided due to the country’s strong leadership. She also alleged that there were dead bodies hanging and rapes occurring during the protests. Her statements received widespread criticism, with several Congress leaders also attacking the BJP over her remarks.
Former Akali Dal MP’s Harsh Comments
Simranjit Singh Mann, former MP of the Shiromani Akali Dal, also made a harsh comment on Kangana’s statement about the farmers’ protests. He said, “I don’t want to say this, but Kangana Ranaut seems to have a lot of experience with rape, and you can ask her to explain how it happens so people can understand.”
