In Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, police had a big success after an encounter with criminals. Two accused in a double murder case were injured in the shootout and later arrested by the police. Both have been admitted to a local health center for treatment. During interrogation, the two men confessed to the crime. Police are now taking further legal action in the case.
Double Murder in Ghazipur’s Uchouri Village
The incident happened in Uchouri village, under Khanpur police station, where a double murder took place a day earlier. The murder caused panic in the entire area. The police registered a case against three suspects, including two named accused, and launched a search operation.
Police Encounter with the Criminals
To catch the accused, police teams from several stations, along with the Special Operations Group (SOG), were actively searching. The police received a tip-off about the accused moving in the area. Acting on this information, police set up a trap near Rampur Crossing.
Soon, police spotted three men on a bike coming from Anauni side. When police signaled them to stop, the criminals tried to escape and opened fire on the police.
Two Accused Injured in Police Firing
In retaliation, police fired back, hitting two accused in the legs. They fell to the ground due to their injuries. The arrested suspects were identified as Ankit Sonkar and Meraj. However, one more accused managed to escape in the darkness.
The injured criminals were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. During questioning, both men admitted to committing the double murder. Police are now conducting further investigations and searching for the third suspect.
