The war between Russia and Ukraine is still ongoing, with both countries attacking each other. During this time, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has announced that PM Modi might visit Ukraine soon. This visit is considered significant, especially coming just two months after PM Modi’s visit to Russia. PM Modi is also expected to visit Poland. He might visit both countries between August 21 and 23.

The Ministry of External Affairs has mentioned that PM Modi will also visit Poland, which is an active member of NATO. However, no specific date for the visit to Ukraine has been announced yet. This will be PM Modi’s first visit to Ukraine following the conflict with Russia.

After the attack on Ukraine in 2022, Western countries imposed strict sanctions on Moscow. However, India has continued its trade with Russia. Since the start of the war, India has not directly supported either Russia or Ukraine but has consistently called for a resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.

Previously, PM Modi visited Russia, where he was honored with Russia’s highest award and personally welcomed by President Putin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had criticized Modi’s visit to Russia. India has agreed to promote bilateral trade and cooperation with Russia in areas such as nuclear energy, medicine, space, and military.
