Uttarakhand’s famous Chaunsa Dal recipe
Ingredients- Green chillies- 1-2, Ginger- 1 inch, Whole coriander- 2 spoons, Garlic leaves- 7-8, Handful of green coriander, Black urad dal- 1/2 cup, Mustard oil- 2 spoons, Cumin- 1 teaspoon, Mustard – 1 teaspoon, Whole dry red chilli – 1-2, Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon, Salt as per taste
Method :
- First of all, crush or grind green chillies, ginger, whole coriander, garlic leaves and green coriander.
- Then wash the peeled urad dal thoroughly and fry it in a pan until it becomes crisp. Then grind it.
- Now add two spoons of mustard oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, dried red chillies cut into two pieces.
- After lightly frying, add coriander paste and fry.
- After this add ground lentil powder into it. Also add one spoon wheat flour.
- After frying for some time, add water as required.
- Then add turmeric and salt as per taste.
- After cooking for 3 to 5 minutes more, turn off the gas.
- Chaunsa dal is ready to serve.
