Generally, Pigeon pea dal is the most cooked and consumed dish in homes, but if you are bored of eating it, then try the famous Chaunsa dal of Uttarakhand which is absolutely delicious in taste.

If you are fond of cooking, then you must be trying to cook and eat something new every day. Every state of India has its own specialty, which is also visible in its food. Be it the sweet and sour flavors of Gujarat or the spicy and spicy flavors of Rajasthan, the fresh sea food of Goa or the fermented foods of South India. Uttarakhand’s famous Chaunsa Dal recipe
Ingredients- Green chillies- 1-2, Ginger- 1 inch, Whole coriander- 2 spoons, Garlic leaves- 7-8, Handful of green coriander, Black urad dal- 1/2 cup, Mustard oil- 2 spoons, Cumin- 1 teaspoon, Mustard – 1 teaspoon, Whole dry red chilli – 1-2, Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon, Salt as per taste

Method :

  1. First of all, crush or grind green chillies, ginger, whole coriander, garlic leaves and green coriander.
  2. Then wash the peeled urad dal thoroughly and fry it in a pan until it becomes crisp. Then grind it.
  3. Now add two spoons of mustard oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, asafoetida, dried red chillies cut into two pieces.
  4. After lightly frying, add coriander paste and fry.
  5. After this add ground lentil powder into it. Also add one spoon wheat flour.
  6. After frying for some time, add water as required.
  7. Then add turmeric and salt as per taste.
  8. After cooking for 3 to 5 minutes more, turn off the gas.
  9. Chaunsa dal is ready to serve.
