Mumbai goregaon fire : Seven people were killed and over 40 injured in a massive fire that broke out in a 7-storey building in Goregaon, Mumbai today. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said the fire started around 3 am in the Jay Bhavan building in Goregaon West’s Azad Nagar area. The injured were taken to two hospitals, HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital in Mumbai.
Two of the seven people who died in the fire were minors. Of the 40 injured, 12 were men and 28 were women, one of whom was a minor. Fire officials said the fire broke out in the Jai Bhavan building on MG Road in Goregaon.
Eight fire engines, five large water tankers, one rotary ladder and an ambulance were brought to the scene.
The fire reached shops on the ground floor and vehicles parked on the ground floor.
Residents were stuck on different floors of the building and also on the terrace. More than 30 people were rescued by the fire brigade and taken by ambulance to HBT Trauma Hospital and Cooper Hospital in Jogeshwari. The state of health of the injured is expected. The fire was put out around six o’clock.
