Motorola has added a new 5G smartphone to its budget Moto G series. And that’s the Moto G54 5G. Launched in India, the phone starts at Rs 15,999 and Motorola says it is aimed at customers looking for a powerful affordable smartphone with 5G connectivity, a smooth gaming experience, a large battery, fast charging and a decent camera.
The Motorola G54 is the company’s first G-series smartphone with the Mediatek Dimensity 7020 processor, and certainly the first phone in the price segment with the chip. The phone competes with Redmi 12 5G and Realme 11X 5G. The Motorola G54 5G is available in two storage options: 8GB RAM and 128GB storage at Rs 15,999 and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage at Rs 18,999.
With bank or money exchange offers, customers can buy the phone cheaper. Along with bank offers, the base version of the phone can be bought at an effective price of Rs 14,499. Similarly, customers will have to pay Rs 17,499 for 12GB RAM and 256GB storage using the launch offers. Additionally, Motorola has partnered with Jio to offer benefits worth up to Rs 5,000 (Rs 2,000 cashback on 399 prepaid plans along with Rs 3,000 partner vouchers).
The Motorola G54 is available in Midnight Blue, Pearl Blue and Mint Green color variants and will be sold on e-commerce site Flipkart.
Moto G54 5G specifications
The Moto G54 has a 6.5-inch LED display with 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD (2400 x 1080) resolution. The screen has HDR10 with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, and PANDA glass, an aluminum silicate glass equivalent to Gorilla glass, is used to protect the screen.
The Moto G54 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7020 processor with a peak frequency of 2.2GHz octa-core processor and an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. It uses a 6000mAh battery with 33W charging support.
There are two cameras on the back – a 50-megapixel OIS primary camera and an 8-megapixel autofocus camera. Motorola did not include a macro or depth camera. There is a 16-megapixel camera for taking selfies.
Compared to other Moto phones in the market, a cleaner version of Android is used. The Moto G54 is no exception. It ships with Android 13-based software, although Motorola promises that an Android 14 update will come later.
Motorola also launched the new Moto G84 5G in India last week. The Moto G84 is the first smartphone from the company’s G series to have a Pantone colour version. The Moto G84 comes in one storage variant (256GB storage and 12GB RAM) and is priced at Rs 19,999.
