The CBI is investigating the rape and murder of a trainee female doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata. The case has sparked widespread protests across the country.
Questions Asked by CBI
The CBI questioned former principal Sandeep Ghosh extensively yesterday afternoon. They are trying to determine where Ghosh was that night. The agency has also questioned three of the victim’s fellow doctors. They were asked what they knew about the night of the incident, what happened during dinner with the victim, and who last saw the victim that night.
CCTV Footage and Accused Movements
According to CBI sources, CCTV footage shows the accused, Sanjay Rai, arriving at the hospital around 11:00 PM on Thursday. He stayed at the hospital for about 30 minutes. Later, he returned to the hospital between 3:45 and 3:50 AM and was seen entering the seminar room. He left the seminar room about 35 minutes later.
Delivery Boy’s Statement
Sources also reported that the victim and her friends ordered food around midnight via an online app. The Kolkata police have recorded the statement of the delivery boy. According to the post-mortem report, the victim died 3 to 4 hours after eating. The CBI has recorded statements from the four doctors who had dinner with the victim to connect the timeline.
Ongoing Investigation
The CBI is interviewing various people connected to the victim and analyzing Sanjay Rai’s mobile phone details. They are tracking his phone location to understand his movements that night.
