In the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is considering a polygraph test for Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A CBI official mentioned that some of Dr. Ghosh’s responses during questioning had inconsistencies.
Dr. Ghosh, who resigned from his position two days after the incident, has been under investigation by the CBI for several days. The agency wants to determine if the doctor’s murder was part of a larger conspiracy. According to reports, the CBI asked Dr. Ghosh about his initial reaction to hearing about the murder.
Questions About Delayed Delivery of the Body
The CBI also inquired why Dr. Ghosh made the victim’s family wait for three hours before handing over the body. The agency wants to confirm Dr. Ghosh’s responses through a polygraph test.
Inquiry Into Hospital Repairs
The CBI is also investigating why repairs were carried out in rooms adjacent to the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital after the incident. They asked Dr. Ghosh about the person he contacted after receiving news of the murder.
High Court’s Role
The investigation into Dr. Ghosh began after the Calcutta High Court stated that the college principal should have been the first person questioned. The Supreme Court criticized the West Bengal government for the delay in filing an FIR and questioned what Dr. Ghosh and the hospital administration did after discovering the murder. The court also noted that Dr. Ghosh tried to label the murder as a suicide.
