Kathmandu earthquake : A 6.1 -magnitude earthquake hit Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Sunday. According to the National Seismological Center, the earthquake was recorded at 7:24 am. On October 16, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit the Sudurpaschim province in Nepal. In 2015, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake and subsequent aftershocks killed around 9,000 people. A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck western Afghanistan earlier this month, according to the US Geological Survey. According to the USGS, the shallow earthquake occurred around 05:10 local time (00:40 GMT) and was centered about 29 kilometers north of the city of Herat. The earthquake came days after strong aftershocks killed dozens in western Afghanistan. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), six earthquakes struck western Afghanistan on Saturday, the largest of which was 6.3 magnitude.
