The IPL 2025 season is expected to be exciting, especially with the mega auction approaching. There are rumors that big changes could happen between teams, including star players possibly moving from one team to another. One such rumor is that Mumbai Indians might release Rohit Sharma, and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) might buy him for 50 crores. LSG’s owner, Sanjiv Goenka, has addressed these rumors.
In a conversation with ‘Sports Tak’, Sanjiv Goenka clarified the situation regarding the speculation about buying Rohit Sharma.
When asked if LSG had set aside 50 crores for Rohit Sharma, Goenka responded, “Can you or anyone else confirm if Rohit Sharma will be in the auction? All these are just speculations. Whether Mumbai Indians will release him or not, and if he does come to the auction, using 50% of your salary cap on one player would be impractical. How would you manage the remaining 22 players?”
When asked if Rohit Sharma was on his wish list, Goenka said, “Everyone has their wish list. You want the best players and the best captain for your team. It’s not just about wanting someone; it’s about what you have and how you use it. I can wish for anyone, but that’s the same for all franchises. Not everyone will be available.”
Goenka did not provide a direct answer but emphasized the challenges and realities of managing a team.
