Indian Team King’s Cup: No Chhetri, Coach Igor Stimac Decides Strong Likely Squad For King’s Cup

 Indian team King’s cup : India coach Igor Stimac  has drawn up a strong likely list for the King of Thailand Cup  despite the absence of captain Sunil Chhetri. 

The Indian football team will compete on the 7th-10th. in September at the King’s Cup 2023 competition in Thailand. The Blue Tigers are associated with Iraq. However, they are missing Sunil Chhetri. Igor Stimac names a team of 31 strong players for the matches.

Gurpreet Sigh Sandhu, Roshan Singh, Suresh Wangjam, Rohit Kumar, Rahim Ali Nandha Kumar, Mahesh Singh, Dheeraj Singh, Sandesh Jhingan, Brandon Fernandes, Gurmeet Singh, Nikhil Poojary, Ishan Pandita, Pritam Kotal, Rashhuaksha SKPh, Jeshhuak Ali, SKPh, SKPh. Fixtures announced, Blue Tigers to face Iraq However, captain Sunil Chhetri requested exemption from the tournament. It also has to do with the dates  close to the birth of her first child. Chhetri confirmed his and  wife Sona Chhetri’s pregnancy  goal against Vanuatu in this year’s Intercontinental Cup.  

The King’s Cup is an annual football tournament that has taken place in Thailand since 1968.Thailand  participated in every edition.  Iraq, India, Tajikistan and Thailand will compete in the 49th  football tournament.  2007 Asian champions Iraq are the highest ranked team in the competition, currently ranked 67th. 

 49. King’s Cup 2023: 

• Iraq vs India (16:00 IST, 07/09/2023)

• Thailand vs Lebanon (19.00 IST, 07.09.2023) 

• Third Place Final (4:00 PM IST, 10 September  2023) 

• Final (19:00 IST, 10 September  2023) 

All games will be played at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 

According to the draw method, FIFA’s highest-ranked Iraq (70th) was pitted against the hosts and 113th-ranked Thailand. The pair were  99th-ranked India and 100th-ranked Lebanon. However India’s previous clash with Iraq ended in a friendly defeat in Baghdad in 2010. 

The Indian football team is competing in the Royal Thailand Cup for the fourth time, the last time in 2019. So. The Blue Tigers lost to Curaçao in the semifinals, beating host Thailand 1-0 to win bronze.  

When the India Football Team made their tournament debut in the year 1977, they also won bronze. In addition, they also beat countries like Singapore, South Korea and Indonesia. In 1981, India was eliminated from the group stage.
