Ahmedabad, Sep 19 (PTI) Several parts of North Gujarat and Saurashtra region have been lashed by heavy rains since the previous day, with the Meteorological Department predicting rains across the state, which has received almost full of its annual average rainfall. on tuesday
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported “very heavy rain” at isolated places in Saurashtra’s Junagadh district on Monday, while north Gujarat’s Patan, Mehsana and Banaskantha districts experienced “very heavy rain”.
Junagadh Visavadar Taluka received 302 mm of rain between 6 am. on Monday and 6 a.m. on tuesday
According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), Gujarat has so far received 870 mm or 99.27 percent of the annual average rainfall. 251 taluks of the state received more than 1000 mm rain this monsoon season, 144 501-1000 mm and 43 taluks 251-500 mm.
The monsoon was “severe due to a cyclonic circulation over Gujarat over southwest Rajasthan,” the IMD said on Tuesday.
According to SEOC, as many as 34 taluks in the state received more than 70 mm of rain in the last 24 hours that ended at 6 am on Tuesday.
Mendarda Taluka of Junagadh, Radhanpur of Patan, Becharaji of Mehsana, Bhabhar of Banaskantha, Mehsana of Mehsana district, Vanthali of Junagadh, 164 mm, 148 mm, Banaskantha Deodar, and Banaskantha Deesa, all followed Visavadar in length.
In its intraday forecast, the IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat region on Tuesday and Wednesday.
