FREE FIRE : One of the most awaited games among the Indian audience is Free Fire India. First announced on August 31, with a release date of September 5, BR fans in the country were excited to hear the news. But now it seems that the release of Free Fire India has been delayed.
For the uninitiated, Free Fire is India’s localised version of Garena’s popular game. It will be launched in the country after India’s Ministry of Electronics and IT banned the flagship game in early 2022 due to alleged privacy concerns. Earlier this year, Garena announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state, to work with a local data centre provider to process user data. These changes allowed Free Fire India to likely return.
WHEN WILL FREE FIRE INDIA START?
Garena initially announced that Free Fire India would be released on September 5. However, a day before the planned release date, the company announced that it would push back the release date by “a few weeks”.
Therefore, the official release date of the game in India has not been announced yet. But most likely it will be released at the end of September. Garena explained his decision to push back the release date. The company said it wants to provide players with the best launch experience in addition to a game location.
What this means is unclear. However, this is probably related to the transfer of data from Free Fire users in the country to Free Fire India.
DIFFERENT FROM GARENA?
By September 4, Garena did everything right to release the game in India. The game was announced on August 31 and was accompanied by a huge marketing campaign. The game has been associated with several prominent athletes to promote the game, which includes:
Star footballer Sunil Chettri
Tennis player Leander Paes
Badminton ace Saina Nehwal
Kabaddi player Rahul Chaudhari
Apart from that, Garena also revealed that former Indian men’s national cricket team captain MS Dhoni will act as the brand ambassador. MS Dhoni will also get an in-game character. The company also dedicated itself to sports tournaments after the game was released.
However, the decision to delay the release by a few weeks killed much of the buzz. It’s surprising to see this last-minute change in the release date, which begs the question of how Garena messed up the perfect release of the game.
However, this game was a very popular game before the ban and still has a large community that kept coming back after its final release.u
