In the case of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the main accused, Sanjay Roy, was seen at the crime scene with an earphone. The CBI has obtained CCTV footage showing Roy near the seminar room with a Bluetooth earphone around his neck.
The Kolkata police had previously used this footage and the Bluetooth evidence to detain and interrogate Sanjay Roy, who later confessed to the crime. Currently, Roy is in CBI custody, and they are preparing to conduct a polygraph test on him.
Accused Claims Innocence in Court
On Friday, the CBI presented Sanjay Roy at the Sealdah Court. According to sources, when the magistrate asked why he agreed to the polygraph test, Roy broke down in tears and claimed his innocence. He told the magistrate, “I haven’t committed any crime. I am being framed. Maybe the polygraph test will prove it.” The CBI has since sent Roy to jail custody until September 6.
Mother Defends Her Son
Roy’s mother has defended him, saying, “He will understand what he has done. This incident involves more than one person. My son did nothing wrong; he is innocent.” She also mentioned that her son has only been married once, not four times as claimed.
Roy’s mother lives near his elder sister. She clarified that Roy had two marriages and said she learned about the rape and murder case from the news. His sister added that if Roy has done something wrong, he should face punishment.
