Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for the Delhi Assembly elections expected in early 2025. On August 27, the party appointed Santosh Ojha as the new president of the Purvanchal Morcha. The appointment letter was issued by BJP Delhi unit chief Virender Sachdeva, who also named Neeraj Tiwari as the spokesperson for the Delhi BJP Media Department.
When Will the Delhi Elections Be Held?
The Delhi Assembly elections could be held earlier than expected. The State Election Commission is preparing for this, and the Assembly is to be formed before February 2025. Elections might take place at the end of January or in February, but sources suggest they could occur in November or December of this year.
The process for updating the voter list might start in September. The last Delhi Assembly election was on February 8, 2019, with results announced on February 11. Speculation is that this year’s elections might be held ahead of schedule.
Political Parties Speed Up Preparation
With these possibilities, political parties are speeding up their preparations. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), currently in power in Delhi, has started campaigning early. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is leading a foot march, and the party is working on booth mapping.
On the other hand, five AAP councillors have joined the BJP, along with a former minister and a legislator. The BJP is also strengthening its organization and making strategic changes. After fighting together in the Lok Sabha elections, Congress has decided to contest the Delhi Assembly elections alone and is working on strengthening its organization for the upcoming polls.
