Citroen C3 : Stellantis-owned French automaker Citroën India has finally launched the all-new C3 Aircross in India. The company has currently only revealed the price of the base variant of this new compact SUV and it starts at Rs 9.99 lakh. This price tag makes the new Citroën C3 Aircross the most affordable midsize SUV in India. It beats all the popular SUVs in this segment like the champion Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and others.
Citroen C3 Aircross price comparison
Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the all-new Citroën undercuts segment champions Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos by Rs 88,000 and Rs 91,000 respectively. The base prices of both the cars are Rs 10.87 lakh and Rs 10.90 lakh.
The Citroën C3 Aircross also undercuts previous cheaper models from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. The C3 Aircross is Rs 70,000 and Rs 86,000 cheaper than the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder respectively. The base variants of these two mid-size SUVs are priced at Rs 10.70 and Rs 10.86 respectively.
In addition to these four popular compact SUVs, the C3 Aircross also undercuts the MG Astor. The base variant of the British carmaker Astor retails at Rs 10.82 lakh. Until the launch of the new C3 Aircross, it was the affordable second base version of all mid-range SUVs.
Finally, the Citroën C3 Aircross also undermines the base versions of the Czech Skoda Kushaq and the German automaker Volkswagen Taigun. Both the cars are priced at Rs 11.59 lakh and Rs 11.62 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroën C3 Aircross is cheaper than the Czech and German SUVs by Rs 1.6 lakh and Rs 1.63 lakh respectively.
As mentioned, the company has currently only published the price of the base version of the new C3 Aircross SUV. It is believed that the company will soon announce the prices of the mid-range and high-end variants as well. The company has also started bookings for this all-new SUV and it can be booked for Rs 25,000 at the nearest Citroën dealership or on the brand’s official website.
The new Citroën C3 Aircross has only one engine option. The company currently offers the C3 Aircross with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine shared with its ICE hatchback sibling, the C3. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox that produces 110 PS of maximum power and 190 Nm of maximum torque. A 6-speed torque converter is expected to join the C3 Aircross lineup at a later date. However, it is currently only offered with a manual transmission.
In the basic configuration, the new Citroën C3 Aircross is only available as a five-seater; however, in case of higher specifications, it also comes in 7 digits. Among the basic features, the C3 Aircross misses out on advanced features like roof-mounted air vents, touchscreen infotainment system, speakers, reverse camera, rear wiper defogger and USB charging ports offered on the Max trim. As for the features of the base variant, it now gets safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, electronic stability control system, reverse parking sensors and tire pressure monitoring system.
