The threat was found written on a tissue paper in the plane’s lavatory, stating “There is a bomb on the flight.” The pilot reported this to air traffic control.

Air India’s Statement

Air India stated that during flight AI 657 from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram, a security threat was identified. The airline said, “The crew followed all necessary security procedures, prioritizing passenger safety.”

A spokesperson for Air India confirmed that all passengers and crew members safely exited the plane. The company emphasized that it prioritizes the safety of its passengers and crew.

Airport Actions

The plane landed at the airport around 8 a.m. and was taken to an isolation bay. Passengers were safely evacuated by 8:44 a.m. The pilot had informed the airport about the threat at 7:30 a.m., leading to the full emergency being declared at 7:36 a.m.
