A young man was running on the Birmingham running track to fulfill the hopes of millions of Indians for a medal in the steeplechase race.

Unaware of all this, the parents of that young man were busy planting in a field in a small village in Beed district of Maharashtra.

In the initial stages of the 3,000-meter steeplechase run, this young man was in fourth place. But in the last 500 meters of the race, he picked up such speed that it seemed as if he had snatched the medal from the neck of the Kenyan runners.

Although the young man missed the gold medal by micro seconds, he made his performance unexpected and historic.

This is the story of India’s Avinash Sable. India now hopes for a medal from Avinash who reached the final.

But Avinash’s journey has never been easy.

Avinash’s story of running barefoot on the dusty roads of the school to reach the track of Paris has been very difficult.

Let’s understand Avinash’s journey to Paris Olympics

‘Parents are labourers in a brick kiln’

Born on 13 September 1994, Avinash hails from Mandwa, a small village in Ashti taluka in Beed district of Maharashtra.

Born in a poor family of Vaishali and Mukund Sable, Avinash’s story has been of poverty and struggle against it.

In an interview to ABP Manjha, Avinash said that his parents, who worked in a brick kiln, always gave importance to educating their children.

Avinash, the eldest of three siblings, understood the difficulties of his parents at the age of five to six years.

Avinash says, “My parents used to go to work at a brick kiln. So, before we woke up, my mother would cook food and leave for work with my father. Once they left home in the morning, we could meet them only at night when they returned. Seeing them like this, we got an idea of their hard work.” Seeing such a situation in the family, Avinash had a desire to help his parents in their struggle since childhood.

So after initial failure in sports, Avinash decided to join the army.

But destiny brought Avinash back to the racing track.

Avinash had the habit of running since childhood

Although Avinash started running as a necessity in his childhood, this necessity turned into his hobby.

As the distance from home to school was six to seven kilometers, Avinash used to run to school when he got late and since then he started liking running.

Seeing Avinash running to school, the teachers made him race with a student of a higher class than him, in which after Avinash won, the teachers also started paying attention to his sports activities.

The teachers took Avinash to a 500 meter race. At that time Avinash was a primary student and his age was only nine years.

Although Avinash had not made any preparations for this race. But Avinash did not disappoint the teachers either.

Avinash had won the first race of his life. Along with winning the race, Avinash also won a cash prize of hundred rupees.

After this, Avinash’s teachers took him to Dhanora Marathon two years ago. Avinash won the race both times.

In an interview, Avinash said that he liked doing all his work while running.

Avinash was equally good and sharp in studies.

He always secured first or second position in school.

For this reason also, Avinash received special affection from his teachers.
