A lounge similar to the one you see at the airport will be built in Delhi’s AIIMS. The lounge will have the capacity to seat 500 people at the same time and more than five thousand people will now be able to use the facilities of toilets, vending machines as well as AC buses in a day. The AIIMS administration believes that patients come here from far off places and hence waiting halls, lounges, more toilets, centralized collection centre, MRI and radiology services will be available round the clock throughout the year.
Director of AIIMS, Dr. Srinivas said that such a facility has to be provided for the patients so that every kind of facility from coming and going inside the AIIMS campus should be provided to them so that they do not face any kind of problem. For this reason, a big waiting lounge is being built in AIIMS by the Airport Authority of India. There will be seating arrangement for 500 people at a time. The waiting lounge will have facilities ranging from advanced urinals to comfortable seating arrangements.
There will be many such facilities in AIIMS for 24 hours.
Actually, about 11 thousand patients are registered in Delhi AIIMS in a day. Generally a patient is accompanied by two attendants. Along with this, there are about 2.5 doctors who look after the patients. There are 18000 staff in AIIMS. In such a situation, about 50,000 people come to AIIMS every day. The biggest problem is regarding the waiting area of the patients.

Dr. Reema Dada, PIC, Media Cell said, “We want the travel to our campus to be seamless and hassle-free for the patients and their attendants. For this, shuttle service is being started. She said that the lower Another set of these e-buses (20-seater) with modern facilities like floor and wheelchair accessibility will be provided only to AIIMS patients and their caregivers.
