Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress has been formed for the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) ward committee elections. Both parties will work together in the Shahdara North Ward Committee.
For this election:
- Congress will be supported by AAP for the position of Chairperson.
- Congress will support AAP for the Vice Chairperson and Standing Committee member positions.
Voting for the Delhi MCD Ward Committee is scheduled for today at 4 PM. The election is to choose a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and a Standing Committee member for 10 out of 12 regional ward committees. Elections will not be held for the ward committees in Keshav Puram and two other zones as BJP and AAP did not file nominations.

Haryana Alliance Talks
In Haryana, AAP is seeking 10 seats, while Congress is willing to offer 7. Recently, AAP had announced it would contest all seats. However, during a Congress meeting, Rahul Gandhi questioned why a coalition with AAP had not been explored. This led to renewed discussions between the two parties.
A joint committee from both parties has been formed to negotiate the terms. Today, AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha will meet Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. This meeting may finalize the seat-sharing arrangement. Voting for Haryana’s 90 seats is scheduled for October 5, with a primary contest expected between Congress and the ruling BJP.
